Back to the Future

Reading this long series, great for pandemic life, Anne of Green Gables. Beginning to identify with the cook, who had not much interest in politics, but now wishes the Kaiser would have boils all over him. She previously had other not nice thoughts about him. What makes the plot thicken is that, though it's based in Canada, the author is bringing in Woodrow Wilson, U.S. President during the 1918 pandemic and WWI. Wilson even got the Spanish Flu himself, and they tried to keep it from the public. It affected him badly.

And on that note, since we're close to Hallowe'en...

The Octagon, actually a 6-sided house, served as a temporary White House. One night in the 1950's, a caretaker there called a doctor for his wife. After treating his wife, the physician asked the caretaker if a costume party was taking place. The doctor had just seen a man on the staircase costumed in the style of the early 1800's. He had even had to move to one side to allow the man to pass by. It's likely it was President James Madison. Dolly Madison has also returned as a spirit, her ghost witnessed on the grounds of the White House during Woodrow Wilson's term.-- The Haunting of the Presidents, by Joel Martin and William Birnes

Rising in the Techie World

I've been watching tutorials of "kids" younger than my daughter, and I have to admit they've taught me some things about techie stuff I wouldn't have thought of. Either they're exceedingly young, or I'm lucky to still be alive right now.

I suppose it was healthy to stay off face book for awhile, as I was working on my project. I once received a "Who-Who" award at an after performance banquet in Colorado. (The award was named after an expression one of the theatre directors used when he didn't know the name of a prop.) My award was called "Keep the techies hopping". I don't know what I did to them, but apparently, I was a little unpredictable on stage. Well, now, I AM the Techie, running my own show. Sometimes, fun. Sometimes, not so much. Long story short, I ended up deleting all the videos, because I turned it off when I was recording and on when I was looking for stuff. 😭 I had some pretty good visual backgrounds, however.🥰

Coming Down to Earth

Got distracted with a story about how celebrities (many of whom I didn't know) left their glamorous careers for regular jobs. Yup. I can relate to that. Took place a long time ago. Did all that without reaching the status of celebrity. Those of us with such aspirations have a lot of trouble "coming down to earth". Earth was not a planet on which we felt comfortable.

Promises, Promises...to Myself

In trying to get my 3-stop grocery trip done, so there are at least 10 days between, my heart broke

💔😭 when the home-made peanut butter 🥜🍪 cookies fell on the floor. Bill said it was peaceful🧘‍♂️ during the time I was gone, which is likely due to nobody being in the house. 🏡 Bill, on the other hand, was upset that I got 2 crunchy 🥜Jif jars that he'd be stuck with for a week and a half. Solutions: 1) Squirrels 🐺get the cookies, 2) he gets creamy Jif at the nearby convenience store, and 3) I make peanut butter cookies🥜🍪 from the crunchy peanut butter jars.

All in a Doggy Day's Work

I would say my original dog, though a good deal larger, was much more Zen-like.

☯️⛩

So, I'm sitting in the reclining chair, and I hear some "rustle-rustle-rustle" sound in the kitchen. Of course, I wonder what Logan's doing, and I call, "Logan?" He appears at the kitchen door,🐶 but has my backpack in his mouth. It's about the same size he is, yet he's apparently dragged it across the kitchen floor. This kind of activity continues, like when the tissue box gets knocked off the table, and the little rascal appears at the other end with...the tissue box 🎁 in his mouth. Then, I have to intervene after he pulls out a tissue and proceeds to chew it. This is a challenge if you don't want your hand chewed along with the tissue. I must have saved him from himself several times today. Not a job for readers. 📖📚
